The aim of this course is to investigate into the 'human question' by studying a number of philosophical and literary texts as well as films that engage in defining and/or problematizing humanness. Throughout the term we will try to see at what moments in history the 'human question' gains prominence and under what circumstances human is pronounced dead, defined as useless, insignificant, or valorized and sanctified.
