Graduate School of Engineering and Natural Sciences Application Requirements for MS.c (Non-Thesis) Programs

Applications for graduate programs are evaluated by the respective Admission Jury along with individual program entries. Admission is finalized by the approval of the related Graduate School Board upon the recommendation of the Jury and announced to the applicants.

Periods for application are announced in Academic Calendar.

International applicant’s registrations will be done upon the approval of Turkish Higher Education Council regarding the equivalence of the last graduated higher instution and the course of study. Required processes regarding recognition is to be started and followed by the student; and official document confirming the recognition is to be submitted to the University by the student.

Turkish candidates graduated from a higher education institution abroad should submit a certificate of equivalence by the Turkish Higher Education Council.

Official Transcript

An official transcript, preferably sealed, issued by the Student Affairs unit of the applicant's previous university should be submitted.


Statement of Purpose

Document(one or two pages) explaining your objectives and your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree.


Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Candidates must submit an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (resume).



One recently taken photograph. If a photo has already been attached to the online application, this is not necessary.


Two Letters of Recommendation

The letters of recommendation could be submitted by the recommenders online or mailed by the applicant in a sealed envelope. After you complete your online application, an email will be sent automatically to your recommenders which you enter to Recommenders Part. Recommenders can click the link to write the recommendation letters or give letters in a closed envelope signed and stamped.


Degree Requirements

An undergraduate degree is required in order to apply for a graduate program. There is no requirement about the undergraduate program type for application.

Applicants must have completed their previous degree programs by the enrollment date for the Fall Term at Sabanci University.

Candidates must obtain a satisfactory score in the Sabancı University English Language Assessment Examination (SU-ELAE).

English Proficiency Exam Result

As the instruction language at Sabancı University is English, any of the above English Proficiency Exam results with valid date and with a score equal to or above the minimum will be sufficient for application. Scanned copies are acceptable for the application period, but the originals should be submitted during the registration process.

Validity duration of the tests:

  • 2 years (for TOEFL)
  • 2 years (for PTE), 3 years (for CAE and CPE)
  • 5 years (for KPDS, ÜDS, YÖKDİL, YDS and e-YDS)

(This test should be valid on university registration date)

According to the updated YOK (Turkish Higher Education Council) Legislation;

a) Acceptable Exams

There has been an update in the list of exams which are considered as equivalent by YOK and acceptable for Graduate Program registrations by Sabancı University; equivalency of IELTS, TOEFL-PBT and TOEFL-CBT exams is not accepted by YOK (Turkish Higher Education Council) any more; and these exams will not be valid for Graduate Program registrations.

b) Exam Centers

If you submit TOEFL IBT, PTE Academic, CAE or CPE scores and take these exams in Turkey, the exam center must be a state university building. ( According to Article 6.3.d of Instruction letter for Foreign Language Exam Equivalencies issued by the Centre for Selection and Placement of Students).

Applicants who do not submit a valid English Proficiency Exam score (fulfilling all other requirements) can only be admitted to a graduate study on the condition of obtaining a satisfactory score from the Sabancı University English Language Assessment Exam (ELAE) which will be run right after the final application deadline (see Academic Calendar for dates).

Graduates of Sabancı University are exempt from submitting an English Proficiency Exam score provided that they apply within two years of their graduation. Period between graduation date from the previous program and registration date to the new program should be maximum 2 years.

Application Address:

Applicants need to upload scanned copies of their documents to the online system. Following the online application, candidates must submit an application package which includes the originals of the documents which are uploaded to the online system. This package could be submitted in person or sent via mail to the Department of Student Resources. Please note that print-out of the completed application form should also be added to the application package. The packages sent via mail must arrive at the department by the application deadline. Applications sent via e-mail will not be accepted.

All the application documents become property of Sabancı University. It is suggested to keep the original reports of TOEFL score and apply with the copies of those test scores; but transcript must be original for application. Please note that the originals of other documents and an up to date transcript must be submitted at the time of registration to Sabancı University.
