According to the latest instruction letter for Foreign Language Exam Equivalencies issued by the Centre for Selection and Placement of Students in order for an exam to be accepted as equivalent, it must have taken place in a building owned by a state university if the test is taken in Turkey.

Those who have completed their high school education in an English speaking country can also be exempted from the Foundations Development Year if they have attended, for the last three years, an institution that the citizens of the country concerned attend.

The "home edition versions" will also be accepted for English language exemption, on the condition that the external exam documents are received from "abroad". The home edition versions will only be valid during the submission periods of the 2021-22 Academic Year.

For the end of 2021-2022 Fall Semester, the deadline for submission of external exam test scores for exemption from SU FDY is 21st January 2022.

Original reports of test scores need to be submitted to Nilay Diriker (schooloflanguages@sabanciuniv.edu) at School of Languages.
