OPIM 621 Operations Strategy
The purpose of this course is to demonstrate the importance of operations strategy as a major influence on the competitiveness of an organization. The focus is on how organizations can develop an effective operations strategy to compete in global markets. Components of operations strategy, links between operations and corporate strategies, trade-offs to be considered in developing effective operations strategies are among the main topics to be covered. Tools and concepts of analyzing the distinctive competencies of the organization and the dynamic of the associated value chain are also discussed. Students are expected to develop an understanding of the significance of designing and implementing effective operations strategies over time and the importance of integrating operations strategy with overall business strategy and other functional strategies.
