What is "Turkish Culture"? Who defines it? Who and what does it include, and not include? What is the relationship between culture (or cultures) and national identity? Asking these questions and others, this course will look at various anthropological, historical, political and literary texts in an effort to critically analyze changes and continuities in the meaning and scope of "Turkish Culture" since the late Ottoman period.
