MGMT 406 Globalization
This course addresses the phenomenon of globalization in in connection with a variety of issues that have direct and/ or indirect relevance for business and managerial practices. Topics to be covered include: The globalization debate in terms of conceptualization, causal dynamics, socio-economic consequences, and implications for macroeconomic stability, state power and governance. Within this context, particular attention will be to paid to the following: Transnational Corporations and their integrated world strategies on a global scale in the areas of production and investment; the issue of globalization versus localization in the context of emerging consumption patterns across the world; information technologies, global financial deepening and the emerging money and capital markets; political and economic consequences of globalization for growth and development in the less developed regions; political and economic accords such as European Union, GATT, and NAFTA.
