This course will serve as an introduction to the new understanding of microbial activities and bacterial diversity; the major groups of microorganisms structure, cultivation and pathogenecity of bacteria and viruses; genetic and metabolic capabilities of microorganisms in their natural habitats and microbial ecology. Laboratory experiments will deal with isolation, cultivation and enrichment of diverse microorganisms.
