This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles, design,and modelling of battery cells and modelingof battery packs by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills and industry applications. Students will learn not only theoretical foundations of electrochemistry, various battery technologies, practical design considerations, and advance modeling techniques but also focusing on applications in electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The course additionally covers module and pack design, including structural modeling and simulations,electrical architecture thermal management configurations, as well as safety mechanisms. Practical skills will be developed through laboratory and hands-on sessions for software development, simulation and modeling exercises.
