Position Overwiew

We are looking for a professional teaching assistant for our mandatory first-year university course Humanity and Society (SPS 101-102). SPS is a two-semester course designed for interdisciplinary world history organized in thematic and chronological order. It is one of the mass courses given as a part of our Foundations Development Program in which active learning techniques are used. 

The selection of the candidate and the range of duties assigned will be compatible with the requirements and the objectives of the course. This is a position initially for six months, but there is a possibility of extension. 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, preferably in Political Science, History, or other related fields.
  • Qualified candidates’ language scores will be taken into consideration and candidates with the highest scores will be prioritized
  • Qualified candidates’ compatibility and skills with the respective needs of the SPS course will be taken into consideration. Good teamwork skills, any prior teaching experience, and potential to contribute to the designed format of the course will be evaluated.

Key Responsibilities:

The position involves (but not limited to) the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitating four discussion sections with a teaching partner on a weekly basis, and occasional replacement teaching
  • Attending the weekly SPS colloquiums and lectures to follow course content
  • Grading of exam papers and other short assignments
  • Keeping track of student attendance and grades
  • Proctoring during examinations
  • Attending all training, orientation programs, and meetings designed for SPS teaching assistants.
