FIN 959 Merger and Acquisitions
This course examines (1) issues related to structuring an M&A deal and forming an opinion about a proposed transactions, such as value creation in mergers, choice of payment method, valuation, deal protection, and investment bank due diligence process; and (2) financial reporting issues that accompany M&A, including accounting for acquisitions and the related goodwill and in-process R&D, and accounting for foreign transactions and operations. The class will combine readings, discussion of relevant news, short cases, and quantitative and qualitative analyses (hands -on experience). Most assignments will be done in teams.
