Online English Language Assesment Exam Stage 1 Results and Stage 2 Rooms

Information about results will not be given out over the telephone to avoid any misunderstanding. 

ELAE results are announced as letters of the alphabet. As stated in our regulations, no results are released as numeric values. 

  • SL (Satisfactory in the ELAE) : This indicates those students who were successful in the 20th September English Assessment Exam (Stage 1) and who have the right to take the English Assessment Exam (Stage 2) on September 21st. 
  • UL (Unsatisfactory in the ELAE): This indicates those students who were unsuccessful in the 20th September English Assessment Exam. Those who receive an unsatisfactory grade from the English Assessment Exam will be placed at an appropriate level (Route 1, 2 or 3) in the 2021-2022 Foundation Development Year based on their exam results. 

2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Term-Foundation Development Year Classes will start on Monday, 27th September 2021. The student class lists and class schedules will be be announced on MySU on Friday, 24th September 2021 at 3.00 pm. Registration to courses are done by the School of Languages. Students themselves do not need to register to courses. 

NA (Non-Attendance): This shows that the student that did not take the ELAE. An “NA” grade is evaluated as a “UL” grade. 

Those students who were successful in the 20th September English Assessment Exam (Stage 1) and who have the right to take the English Assessment Exam (Stage 2) on September 21st can check the details given below. 

Online ELAE- Stage II (Writing and Speaking): 

Writing Exam: Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, 10.00 - 10.45

In order for students not to experience problems during the actual exam a trial writing exam has been opened on SUCourse. Make sure to complete the trial exam by logging into SUCourse with the username and password sent to you for the ELAE Stage 1 exam. This username and password will also be valid for the ELAE Stage 2 Writing exam. If you have any problems, you can get help from schooloflanguages@sabanciuniv.edu before the actual exam. 

Access to the trial exam will be closed on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 7 am (Turkish Time). 

Students will be able to access the ELAE Stage 2 writing exam with the same username and password on SUCourse on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10 am.

During the writing exam, you must be connected to both Zoom and the university Learning Management System (SUCourse) simultaneously. To connect to SUCourse you will need the username and password that was sent to you via email. Students are required to have one blank A4 paper and one pen with them in order to take notes during the 10 minut planning stage in the exam. 

Students who will take the ELAE writing exam are strongly reminded to be present in the Zoom exam room half an hour before the exam starts in order to have their ID checked on time and to have their official identification (ID card, passport, etc.) with them.

In case of technical problems, the start and end times of the exam may be later than specified. 

Speaking Exam: one individual 20 minute slot for each student in the afternoon on September 21st, 2021.

Note: Please have one blank A4 paper and one pen to use in the 1 minute reflection part of Part 1 of the Speaking exam. 

In order for the speaking exam identity checks to be carried out on time, students are strongly reminded to be present in the Zoom exam room 5 minutes before the exam, and to have their official identification (ID card, passport, etc.) with them. 

The speaking exam will take place via Zoom. SUCourse will not be used. 

In case of technical problems, the start and end times of the exam may be later than specified. 

Since the ELAE will be carried out online, students need a computer with a working camera, microphone, speaker and a stable internet connection to be able to take the exam. 

ELAE Stage II (Writing and Speaking) results will be announced on MySU on September 22nd, 2021 at 9 pm. 

No results will not be given out over the telephone to avoid any misunderstandings. 

There is no make-up for the ELAE.
