Information Regarding the Single Course Exam
In line with the decision taken by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the Single Course Exam application has been implemented at our University. Within this scope, students who meet the conditions outlined below are eligible to apply for this exam.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Students who have completed all courses required for graduation and have attended these courses regularly may apply if they meet one of the following conditions:
- Those who have failed only one course and would be eligible to graduate upon passing the exam for that course.
- Those who have passed all courses but have not met the minimum CGPA ≥ 2.00 and/or PGPA ≥ 2.00 requirement and who may meet this requirement upon retaking and passing one previously completed course.
Which Courses Are Eligible for the Single Course Exam?
- Only courses from previous terms in which the student received a grade of “C-, D+, D, F, U” are eligible.
- Courses that have never been taken before, were withdrawn, or received an “NA” grade are not eligible.
- Internship, project, workshop courses, practice-based courses, or those whose performance cannot be assessed by a single exam are not eligible.
Important Notes:
- The grade received in the single course exam is recorded as the final grade on the transcript. (Even if the previously received grade corresponds to a higher letter grade, the letter grade from the single course exam is taken into account.) The final CGPA and PGPA will be recalculated accordingly.
- Previous assessments (such as midterms, projects, or final exams) will not be considered in the final grade.
- A student cannot take the Single Course Exam for both grade improvement and course failure in the same exam period.
- There is no make-up exam for the Single Course Exam. In cases of force majeure (e.g., medical reasons), the situation will be evaluated by the relevant Faculty.
- If the student fails to attend the exam for the course specified in their petition, an “F” grade will be assigned and included in their CGPA.
