CULT 201 Theory and Practice in Cultural Studies 3 Credits
This course is an introduction to some of the most important theoretical trends of 19th and 20th century literary and cultural studies. A broad survey of this field will encompass culturalism, structuralism, poststructuralism, marxism, feminism and postmodernism, among others. In addition to different theoretical perspectives on culture, the course will offer a selection of case studies ranging from soap operas to popular music, from detective novels to cartoons.
