| This course introduces students to the debates and topics of contemporary research on Türkiye and its peoples that employ historical methodology and sources. The course follows a broad chronology from the major events of the late-Ottoman Empire to contemporary issues in the Republic of Türkiye. It introduces major themes such as transition from empire to nation-state, emergence and competition among political networks, history of political movements, migration, environment and economic transformation and how historical methodology and sources are utilized in the study of those themes. | |||||||||||||
