POLS 584 Theorizing Nationalism and Civil Society 3 Credits
Comparative study of the Turkish single-party period and political system using first-hand original sources and within their historical and political contexts. Starting with the political situation and separations involved within the period of the War Independence, that period's impact on the period prior to the building of the Republic, until the end of the early Republican period, will be studied. This will include a comprehensive view of that whole period's political, cultural, economical, foreign policy-related situation, in particular focusing on political organizations.
