MAT 514 Principles and Applications of Polymer Physics 3 Credits
Statistical mechanics of chain molecules. The Rotational Isomeric State formalism for calculating chain dimensions and related quantities by the use of matrix multiplication methods. Molecular theory of rubber elasticity. Statistical thermodynamics of polymer solutions. Phase equilibria in polymer systems, swelling of gels. Dynamics mechanisms in polymers in solution and in bulk.
