Invitation to Seminar on Fostering Innovation and Enterprise
We are pleased to announce an upcoming seminar by Professor Chee-Yoon Yue, the Dean of the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies and Chair Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at City University of Hong Kong.
Participants will gain valuable insights on fostering collaboration with industry aimed at promoting innovation and enterprise within an academic environment. These include early innovation and enterprise initiatives gleaned from the Singapore-MIT Alliance programs and some effective approaches of establishing university-industry collaborations. Ways to promote innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship in the Hong Kong and Singapore context will be discussed.

Professor Chee-Yoon YUE is Dean - Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies, and Chair Professor – Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). Previously, he was Director - NUS Enterprise at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and was Academic Director for MSc (Venture Creation) and NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC). From 1990-2021, he was full professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore holding senior leadership positions including Associate Provost-Graduate Education, Founding Dean of the Interdisciplinary Graduate
School, Founding Director of the Institute for Sports Research, Programme Chair - Manufacturing Systems & Technology - Singapore-MIT Alliance, and Dean of School. He was Visiting Scientist at MIT (2009-2010). He is in the World’s Top 2% Scientist (2022-2023) by Stanford University. His academic career commenced in 1983 at the University of Hong Kong. His Bachelor’s and PhD degrees in materials engineering are from Monash University, Australia. He was awarded the Singapore Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2002. He is Member of Dean’s Advisory Council, Monash University Faculty of Engineering Australia, and was Deputy Chairman of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Engineering Advisory Committee (2018-2024). He is Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore.
