A comprehensive study of experimental film and video through screenings, readings, discussions, and creative practice, this course offers a critical exploration of the history and theory of experimental and avant-garde film and video, including the impact of new technologies and current practices. Students create a series of short experimental videos to explore new ways to express themselves.

CONTENT
OBJECTIVE
This module will examine the history of experimental film and the advent of
video art. The class will explore the social, technological, aesthetic,
and practice of video art. Further more, it aims?
-to develop within the student a visual literacy on notable video
artists
-to discuss the origins of the art utilizing television, video, and
other moving image processes
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- By the end of the module students will be able to -classify the major video art trends and themes throughout the 20th century -identify the key contributors to both technological developments and aesthetics -summarize the advent of video art -practice techniques and processes for video art
