CONTENT
OBJECTIVE
After having students introduced to a basic knowledge of conventional photography and its use within the digital realm in VA332; this class encourages students to discover / experiment ways to express themselves and their design ideas through photography. They will try to create photographs that tell stories, create moods or provoke impressions. Students will also be exposed to studio photography, yet will not be expected to work in studio.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. question images, symbols created for the purposes of propagation. 2. distinguish between a single photo and a narrative series of photos 3. compare old and contemporary photography practices 4. propose photo series that offer, share their own ways of thinking 5. identify the importance of form / aesthetics in artistic expression while concentrating on content / idea by examining various contemporary art and photography practices 6. demonstrate their artworks professionally 7. comprehend that animated image (video, film) has close relations with still image (photography) and find the middle ground through assignments dealing with chronophotography.
