CONTENT

The course is a continuation of VA201. At this stage the students will be introduced to the principles of three-dimensional design. The aim of the course course is to analyse the fundamental methods of producing 3 -D objects and issues of spatial organization. A part of the semester will be devoted to introduction to basic typography and exercises in relating 2-D design to the third dimension.

OBJECTIVE

Using the analogy of language, the course intends to initiate a fundamental level of visual literacy in the realm of three-dimensionality.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Describe similarities, relationships and differences between two dimensional and three dimensional design.
  • Develop an understanding of creative design process with all of its various steps from planning to final execution: Sketch, build, analyze, sharpen and complete the creative process of three-dimensional designs without assistance. Develop the ability to absorb large quantities of visual information, process, prioritize, eliminate, decide and finalize the visual statement incorporating the intended meaning.
  • Analyze structures and materials, in terms of their potentials as well as their shortcomings.
  • Pay close attention to details, and articulately analyze and critique their own, as well as other students' works.
