CONTENT

The student is introduced to the principles and elements of motion design through studio practices. This course emphasizes on the relationship between typography principles and animation fundamentals. Students relate their experimental videos with kinetic typography to synthesize the language of motion between text and image for time-based media

OBJECTIVE

This course introduces fundamental concept for motion graphics, including interdisciplinary usage of 2D and 3D graphics, dynamic typography, compositing for television networks and film title. Students explore ideas of narrative form, image genres and visual language issues related to context and audience. Not only based on visual and special effects, student also focus on how to execute functionality, organizational structure, promote design and art for screen businesses.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Intended Learning Outcomes: 1) To introduce art and design practical approaches and methodologies in visual communication design and visual arts. 2) To understand and generate imagery and live images, along with layering, keying, matting, effects creation, motion control, image manipulation, color correction toward complex mix media visual and final post production output for film and television. 3) To provide student a practical professional working background, knowledge, skill for both undergrad and graduate student in broadcast design and industry need.

1. Demonstrate safe working habits and a general understanding of materials and processes in the visual arts. 5

2. Demonstrate knowledge of representational processes using visual as well as audial material as mediums of representation. 5

4. Appreciate and express the cultural significance of art and understand its evolution and purposes. 5

5. Develop an awareness of compositional and organizational strategies for the effective deployment of formal elements of visual art. 5

6. Read visual texts with a deep knowledge of art history and theory and the ability of situating the content and form of the visual representation both in a historical and thematic context. 5

7. Employ necessary background knowledge regarding art administration in the body of museums and galleries. 5

8. Show a practical and technical command of materials and methods in one or more media of the visual arts. 5
