CONTENT

Seventh Sustainable Development Goal on energy. Energy sector decarbonisation and energy transition Energy efficiency, renewable energy, modern energy access, low-carbon technologies, system integration. Costs and benefits of energy transition pathways, investment needs and stranded assets. Power sector and end-use sectors. Role of innovation and R&D. Renewable energy and energy efficiency policies.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES


1. Develop the ability to use critical, analytical, and reflective thinking and reasoning

2. Reflect on social and ethical responsibilities in his/her professional life.

3. Gain experience and confidence in the dissemination of project/research outputs

1. Design and model engineering systems and processes and solve engineering problems with an innovative approach.

2. Establish experimental setups, conduct experiments and/or simulations.

1. Demonstrate substantive knowledge of how energy relates to social, political, and economic aspects of contemporary life on a national, regional or global basis.

2. Discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of using traditional fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal), renewable energy sources (hydro, solar, wind, biomass) and nuclear energy.

3. Explain the fundamentals of renewable energy and fossil fuel technologies.

4. Explain the dynamics of energy and electricity supply chains and the related markets.

5. Discuss the social and environmental effects of energy policies and technologies.

6. Develop fundamental energy financing models.

7. Gain experience with energy project management and energy strategy development.

8. Demonstrate knowledge on the fundamental Turkish energy regulations.

9. Demonstrate ability to access current and reliable information sources on energy.
