CONTENT

This course aims to equip students with professional communication skills in English. The purpose of the course is to develop and enhance the skills students will need to operate effectively in a business context. By building students? confidence in approaching the transition to work and increasing their awareness of the business environment, the course also aims to place them at an advantage in the world of work. This will be done by developing business related language skills and knowledge through context-based input and practical, communicative task-based sessions.

OBJECTIVE

To develop the professional skills in English which students will need in order to apply for internships and jobs.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • By the end of this module, a student should be able to: (a) identify their transferable skills; (b) analyse a job advertisement; (c) produce a tailored CV and cover letter; (d) evaluate the factors affecting the job market for new graduates. (e) answer interview questions using CAR / Sandwich methods

2. Understand different disciplines from natural and social sciences to mathematics and art, and develop interdisciplinary approaches in thinking and practice. 2
