CONTENT

The goal of the course is to introduce basic ways of visual perception such as lines, shapes, darkness-light. In the second phase of the course the participants are expected to develop their skills of observation towards nature, man-made objects and human figures.

OBJECTIVE

It is an introduction to drawing. Draftsmanship and painting. Basic elements of perception and representation : line, shape, and the interplay of light and dark. One-on-one supervision and guidance under studio conditions so as to develop observation skills from nature, from man-made objects and from the human figure.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Upon the completion of this course, students should be able to: 1-Identify the elements of the art such as point, line, shape, form, pattern, composition, viewing points, color, texture, light, space and movement. 2- Improve their skills by observing and drawing from live models 3- Recognize soft and sharp edges of the spot- knowing how to show skin models tones in light and shadows 4- Identify the parts of the anatomy as well as the aesthetics values of the human body. 5- Describe basic anatomy elements by studying differences between male and female body buildings 6- Create the tone values of the spot by using cross- hatching 7- Use the value scale for tone comparisons 8. Continue VA 204 Language of Drawing II Course 9. Rich the level of the portfolio usually accepted to enter talent exam at the fine arts academies.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

4. Appreciate and express the cultural significance of art and understand its evolution and purposes. 5

5. Develop an awareness of compositional and organizational strategies for the effective deployment of formal elements of visual art. 5

6. Read visual texts with a deep knowledge of art history and theory and the ability of situating the content and form of the visual representation both in a historical and thematic context. 4

7. Employ necessary background knowledge regarding art administration in the body of museums and galleries. 4

8. Show a practical and technical command of materials and methods in one or more media of the visual arts. 5
