This course examines ideas and perspectives on ethical issues in contemporary business with the objective to expand our capacity for moral inquiry and increase our alertness about consequences of misconduct. We will examine various ethical and moral dilemmas in business decision-making encountering the philosophical issues at the foundation of economic theory and management science. The course will also review recent debacles at corporate world focusing on practical issues such as social responsibility, ethical investments, corporate governance, professional codes of ethics, and morality and future of market-driven societies.

CONTENT
OBJECTIVE
Learn how to develop an organization culture and practices that support ethical business performance. "Giving Voice to Values" (Mary Gentile)'s approach will be taken, helping students to practice doing the right thing.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Recognize ethical issues in the global context of business, develop an understanding of the relationship between ethical/responsible behavior and business performance. 2. Frame ethical issues, operationalize ethical choices and use ethical reasoning for decision making. 3. Examine the question of why ethical and unethical decisions are made at the workplace regarding employees, investors, customers, suppliers and competitors; recognize situational and individual influences on decision making. 4. Learn about ways of managing business ethics and the tools available to manage stakeholder relations; develop perspectives on how managers and shareholders can influence the corporate behavior.
