OPIM 623 Empirical Methods in Operations Management
This course covers the basic principles of empirical theory building and theory testing in operations management context. There is an emphasis on the use of theories offered by economics and other management disciplines such as organization studies to describe, explain, and predict operations related activities and outcomes. Empirical research techniques such as case, survey, archival research are discussed based on examples from the literature. (Knowledge of Research Methods, Probability and Statistics is recommended)
