Sabancı University President Professor Nihat Berker will take successful freshman year students of Sabancı University to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during spring holidays for a one-week trip as part of the “Sabancı University - Massachusetts Institute of Technology Freshman Scholars” Program.
Pursuant to the Sabancı University-MIT Freshman Scholars Program, four first-years students who achieved the highest score in English, History of Turkish Revolution, Mathematics and Human and Society courses at Sabancı University will visit the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for one week during the next spring break. Students will attend 20 hours of lectures they will have chosen before, and take part in activities on campus. They will also explore the cultural amenities of Boston, visiting the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Science, and watch an NBA game.
A ceremony will be held at MIT at the end of the program, SU-MIT Freshman Scholars will be presented with certificates.
Sabancı University President Professor Nihat Berker said: “These programs enable our students to experience diverse academic and cultural environments from the onset of their education. This is the sixth year of a program at MIT that makes our students a part of a joint project network, establish relations with their peers studying and contact scholars who work in the fields they are interested in. We ask each student to prepare a report detailing their experiences and comparing educational processes at SU and MIT within three weeks of their return. These reports are then posted on the SU website.”
