Aksay received his B.S.degree from the Civil Engineering Faculty of Yıldız Technical University in 1980, and earned an MBA from Istanbul University in 1982. Aksay worked as a Project Manager in a number of residence, museum and office headquarters constructions from 1980 to 1990. Joining the Sabancı Holding in 1990, Aksay was a Project Control Engineer in the construction of Sabancı Center towers between 1990 and 1993, and as an Operations Engineer after the completion of the towers in 1993 until 1997. In 1997, Aksay was appointed Assistant Project Manager to the Sabancı University campus construction. He was then positioned as the Construction and Operations Coordinator in 1999. Between 1997 and 2013, Aksay worked as Coordinator in the construction of the Sabancı University campus and the Nanotechnology Building, the renovation of Karaköy Minerva Palace, the construction of Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Toyotasa Kartal Headquarters and Logistics Center, and the operations of the campus. Aksay was promoted to Director of Operations and Technical Services in October 2013.
