Graduate School of Engineering and Natural Sciences Admission Requirements for MS.c (Non-Thesis) Programs

Applications for graduate programs are evaluated by the respective Admission Jury along with individual program entries. Admission is finalized by the approval of the related Graduate School Board upon the recommendation of the Jury and announced to the applicants.

Periods for application are announced in Academic Calendar.

International applicant’s registrations will be done upon the approval of Turkish Higher Education Council regarding the equivalence of the last graduated higher instution and the course of study. Verification will be done by University if it is neeed.

Turkish candidates who are graduated from higher instution at abroad, should submit a certificate of equivalence by YOK.

 Official Transcript

 An official transcript, preferably sealed, issued by the Student Affairs unit of the applicant's previous university should be submitted.


 Statement of Purpose

 Document explaining your objectives and your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree.


 Curriculum Vitae (CV)

 Candidates must submit an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (resume).



 One recently taken photograph. If a photo has already been attached to the online application, this is not necessary.








 Two Letters of Recommendation




 The letters of recommendation could be submitted by the referencers online or mailed by the applicant in a sealed envelope.

 After you complete your online application, an email will be sent automatically to your recommenders which you enter to Recommenders Part. Recommenders can click the link to write the recommendation letters or give letters in a closed  envelope signed and stamped.







 Degree Requirements




 An undergraduate degree is required in order to apply for a graduate program. The applicant should have an undergraduate or a graduate diploma in order to be admitted to a graduate program.

 Applicants must have completed their previous degree programs by the enrollment date for the Fall Term at Sabanci University.

 Candidates must obtain a satisfactory score in the Sabancı University English Language Assessment Examination (SU-ELAE).


English Proficiency Exam Result

As the instruction language at Sabancı University is English,  any of the above English Proficiency Exam results with a score equal to or above the minimum will be sufficient for application. Scanned copies are acceptable for the application period, but the originals should be submitted during the admission process. 

Test dates must be within:

  • 2 years (for TOEFL)
  • 2 years (for PTE),  3 years (for CAE and CPE)
  • 5 years (for KPDS, ÜDS, YDS and e-YDS)

of the candidates's official application date to the degree program.

According to the updated YOK (Turkish Higher Education Council) Legislation;

a) Acceptable Exams

There has been an update in the list of exams which are considered as equivalent by YOK and acceptable for Graduate Program registrations by Sabancı University; equivalency of IELTS, TOEFL-PBT and TOEFL-CBT exams is not accepted by YOK (Turkish Higher Education Council) any more; and these exams will not be valid for Graduate Program registrations.

b) Exam Centers

If the international exams, of which equivalency is accepted by YOK and which are accepted for Graduate Program registrations by Sabancı University as indicated in Article (a), are taken in Turkey; these exams have to be taken in a State University building. 

Exams taken in a exam center rather than State University buildings before the announcement date of the updated regulation (26 February 2016); and exams taken in a exam center rather than State University buildings within 30 days following the announcement date of updated regulation, only if it was applied before 26 February 2016 will be considered as taken in accordance with the condition indicated in Article (b).

Applicants who do not submit a valid English Proficiency Exam score (fulfilling all other requirements) can only be admitted to a graduate study on the condition of obtaining a satisfactory score from the Sabancı University English Language Assessment Exam (ELAE) which will be run right after the final application deadline (see Academic Calendar for dates).

Graduates of Sabanci University are exempt from submitting an English Proficiency Exam score provided that they apply within 2 years following their graduation.

Application Address:

Applicants need to upload scanned copies of their documents to the online system. Following the online application, candidates must submit an application package which includes the originals of the documents which are uploaded to the online system. This package could be submitted in person or sent via mail to the Department of Student Resources. Please note that print-out of the completed application form should also be added to the application package. The packages sent via mail must arrive at the department by the application deadline. Applications sent via e-mail will not be accepted.

All the application documents become property of Sabancı University. It is suggested to keep the original reports of TOEFL score and apply with the copies of those test scores. But please note that the originals must be produced at the time of registration to Sabancı University.
